NESA Services are FREE!

We depend on donations to keep our doors open. Clients and others wishing to help us defray our expenses, may send their tax deductible donations to NESA on a schedule of their choice.

All NESA services are performed by dedicated volunteers.

How to Qualify 

To be eligible for NESA services, you must be:


  • 60 years old or older
  • Live in northeast San Antonio (east of San Pedro, outside Loop 1604 to Evans Rd, on the north side of IH35, also including Windcrest, Royal Ridge, Camelot, and adjoining areas of Bexar County.  We also serve parts of Live Oak. See map on last page.)
  • Do not drive anymore, or drive far; or live with someone who drives but works full time.
  • You must be ambulatory.  If you are wheelchair-bound, you will not be able to use our transportation services, but you can use grocery delivery services.

When you call in, we will fill out an intake form. Then our Outreach Nurse will schedule a home visit to make sure you fit the program.

After you are approved, you may begin calling in your appointments 1-3 weeks in advance. Only 1 ride per week is allowed .

Due to liability, we will not transport clients to outpatient procedures nor any procedure requiring an IV sedation.

Services We Provide 

  • Transportation/Rides

                 Escorted rides to and from your

                 regular  medical, dental, vision, and lab

                 appointments. During COVID-19, Client must sit in back

                seat. Driver remains in  vehicle or lobby until appointment

                is over. All must wear masks and take temperature prior to

                ride.  We will take  you to most physicians throughout San

                 Antonio, but no surgeries, please.

  • Grocery Shopping Delivery

                 You will have your own personal shopper.

                 Shopper will get your list, do the shopping,

                 deliver groceries to you. Then, you reimburse

                 shopper. A checking account is required. If you need to pick                      up free items at a Food Pantry, we can give rides to that, too!

  • Telephone Reassurance

                  A volunteer will call you on a regular basis to

                  offer support and socialization.

  • Handy Helper

                  We will make minor repairs and maintenance

                  such as changing light bulbs and hanging


  • Socialization at Special Events

                   We'll pick you up and bring you to Fall Fest -

                   our annual event held in the fall where you'll

                   meet others, win prizes, and be entertained and


  • Information and Referral Services

                    If we can't help you, we'll refer you to someone

                   who can.
