Many older adults don't want to feel like a burden, so they quietly struggle alone. Over time, isolation can take a serious toll on their health and overall well-being.
NESA answers these questions.

Our History and Mission
NESA is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization that began in San Antonio in 1984 when local community members realized many older adults were isolated and lacked support to help them live independently in their own homes, and in their established communities - where they want to be.
In over 40 years of service, NESA has expanded its service
NESA is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization that began in San Antonio in 1984 when local community members realized many older adults were isolated and lacked support to help them live independently in their own homes, and in their established communities - where they want to be.
In over 40 years of service, NESA has expanded its service area five times. As the population of older adults grows, so does the demand for NESA services. NESA services are provided through a group of dedicated volunteers who want "pay it forward" and connect with older adults who have asked for help.
Our services are provided FREE of charge. Additionally, NESA distinguishes itself from other organizations by providing door-through-door transportation services. NESA volunteers meet clients at their home, stay with them at the appointment, and return clients safely back home. NESA clients have peace of mind they will be supported and safe.
NESA's Mission is to reflect God's Love by providing transportation and other services to enhance the quality of life and independence for seniors.

Let us tell you about Pete.
Blind since 1993 from an old war injury, sadly, Pete has outlived his loved ones. But Pete is not alone.
NESA volunteers make sure Pete gets what he needs, from transportation to shopping assistance to social interaction, they do all they can so Pete can remain independent and age in place.

Like many clients, NESA volunteers are his only friends now. He's always thankful to our volunteers and tells us how much we mean to him, but what he doesn't realize is how much he means to our volunteers and NESA.
Helping folks like Pete, and others like him, means they can continue being a part of their communities. That makes them feel good, but it also makes what NESA does matter!
